Chromebook Tips, Tricks, and Troubleshooting Home

LAPTOP TROUBLES?

TRY THESE STEPS FIRST:

 

Start with basic troubleshooting steps:

  • Restart your computer
  • Make sure your charging cord is plugged in and not damaged
  • Make sure everything is typed correctly and capitalized when needed
  • Your username is also your email address – example   
              123456789@edu.leonschools.net
  • Open Canvas from the SCMS website or from ClassLink
  • Ask a teacher for help
     

If you still have problems, then try the following next steps:
 

Reset your account on your Chromebook
 

  • Power off your Chromebook then turn it back on
  • Select the down arrow beside your name and click on “remove account”
  • Click “remove account” again
  • Chromebook will reset and you will be able to sign back in with your credentials
     

POWERWASH your Chromebook

  • Power off your Chromebook then turn it back on
  • Press and hold Ctrl +Alt + r + Shift (Think CArS)
  • In the box that appears, select Powerwash
  • Select Continue
  • Sign back in using your school credentials
     

What to do if your account has been blocked.  See Mrs. Hartman in the Media Center. This requires a password reset and email to the helpdesk.
 

  • If none of the above actions resolve your Chromebook issues, see Mrs. Hartman in the Media Center.

  • Come to the SCMS Media Center between 9am – 3:50pm any school day for tech support or to exchange broken laptops or chargers.
